A roundup of the skincare products you need to try this month.
I’m going to give myself credit where credit is due, I have been taking pretty good care of my skin recently.
Pre-lockdown I would rarely wash my face in the morning – I would be in such a rush to get ready for work that I’d go in with the bare minimum – moisturiser and eye cream.
Similarly in the evening, I would quickly cleanse my face and then apply moisturiser, potentially a serum if I was feeling especially motivated. Weekends would be the only time that I would put to use the large number of skincare products I hoard on my shelf.
I’ve also spent a pretty significant amount of money on skincare since lockdown, I realised that I really didn’t have all of the basics covered – I had loads of moisturisers and cleansers, but in terms of actual treatments, I had embarrassingly little.
But these products are for a future post, once I’ve properly trialled them and have a concrete opinion on whether they worked for me.
Today I’m talking about some of the stand-out products that I had in my collection before I brought the newbies in. These are the products that I will be continuing to use on a regular basis and don’t see myself switching out any time soon.
Origins Original Skin Essence Lotion with Dual Ferment Complex
One of the things that I’ve always struggled with has been my skin looking dull and lacklustre, and since using this it’s not been something I’ve had to worry about as much.
This is a lotion that I normally use after using an acid, it smells so nice (a subtle earthy scent) and is light enough that it sinks into the skin easily.
After using this my skin feels plump, hydrated and a whole lot brighter than it normally looks.
The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is my best friend, I seriously can’t get enough of the stuff. If you have dry or dehydrated skin, this is the ingredient that you need.
This product by The Inkey List is especially good and it’s quite thin, this means that it doesn’t feel heavy or thick, and easily works with other products, but is still powerful enough to keep my skin hydrated all day long. I like to use this with the Origins Lotion, and they are the dreamiest pair.
While the lotion gets to work on the brightness and texture of my skin, the hyaluronic acid keeps my skin dewy and moisturised.
Pai Rosehip Oil
I have talked about this product incessantly ever since I started this blog many moons ago, it’s potentially my favourite skincare product of all time.
Just to prove my point, I think this is my 4th bottle of the oil – and it lasts a long time, so that’s saying something.
This is a life-saver for my skin, not only is it super hydrating but because of it’s anti-inflammatory properties it helps to get rid of any blemishes or redness.
I’ve tried other rosehip oils, thinking that surely they can’t all be that different, but all my experimenting inevitably told me that nothing compares to the Pai Rosehip Oil.
La Roche Posay Hydraphase Intense Yeux
When it comes to eye cream, I always prefer something that is thin and gel-based, my under eyes are quite sensitive and if I use anything that’s too rich and creamy I start to notice the little white dots start to pop up.
This eye cream from La Roche Posay is extremely light, as soon as I apply it my under eyes feel instantly refreshed and depuffed.
With the added hyaluronic acid it means that even when I apply a thick, dryer concealer I don’t have to worry about it looking cakey.
Beauty Pie Vitamin C Oxygen Boosting Moisturizer
This is an example of me dipping my toes into the world of Vitamin C – this moisturiser from Beauty Pie doesn’t have a high enough amount of the ingredient to experience the same kind of benefits that a standalone vitamin C serum would, but it subtly brightens and tightens.
This is a beautiful thick cream that quenches my thirsty skin and sinks in right away, it feels moisturising and, with Vitamin C, gives a really pretty glow to the skin.
The texture is a perfect consistency, everything that I look for in a moisturiser – something that’s thick and feels like it’s actually doing something rather than being thin and useless, and that it doesn’t feel greasy or uncomfortable.
