Rose is one of the best ingredients for those with sensitive skin, here are some of my favourite rose skincare products.
Why you should use rose skincare products
In the world of beauty we are constantly being bombarded with new products, ingredients, formulas etc., so much so that we can often forget about the old-school ingredients that have always served us well.
But I’ll always have a soft spot for the more simple ingredients that we all know and love, and the topic of today’s article.
Rose is a powerful ingredient that you find in a lot of skincare products, this is because it is an incredible ‘all-rounder’ ingredient that provides benefits for all skin types.
Rose has natural antibacterial properties which help banish blemishes and ward off any spot-causing bacteria, a life-saver for anyone who suffers from oily and blemish-prone skin.
It is also an anti-inflammatory so if you suffer from redness you can rely on rose to calm your skin down and soothe any irritation.
As well as being a saviour for people experiencing problem skin, it is also extremely hydrating and moisturising so can help people with even the driest skin.
So all in all, rose is pretty damn good for your skin, so it’s no surprise that it has been incorporated into so many different categories of skincare, here are a few of my rose skincare products.
The best rose skincare products
Face Mists
Face mists are still somewhat of a confusion to me; do I really think that they are working wonders for my skin? No. Will I continue to buy them? You bet.
Although they aren’t as concentrated as serums, oils etc. they do act as that additional step to add even more skin-loving ingredients to your routine, and I will take anything extra I can get.
All of the face mists that I have ever bought always included one of two ingredients, rose or aloe vera; both are hydrating and calming which is just what my skin is in need of.
A new favourite has been the Pixi Rose Glow Mist which is great underneath, or on top of, makeup – it helps to soothe any redness and creates a smooth base for flawless makeup application, or when applied on top to get rid of all the excess powder and make your skin look beautifully dewy.
An oldie but a goodie face mist is the Mario Badescu Facial Spray which combines the two ingredients I love the most. I also discovered, while on holiday in Bali over the summer, that this is a perfect sunburn remedy.
When my poor pale skin couldn’t take the hot Indonesian sun I would spray some of this over me and it would instantly cool the burn and get rid of the redness. This is probably a huge waste of product but when you’re silly enough to not bring aloe vera cream with you on holiday you have to work with what you’ve got.
Cleansers
Similar to my problem with rose face mists, I can never pass up a creamy rose cleanser – you can never have too many of them.
Where I struggle with dry skin I really find that I have to avoid anything that foams or is too harsh on the skin, therefore I have found that these creamy rose cleansers work exceptionally well.
My favourites are the Nuxe Comforting Cleansing Milk, the whole rose petal range that Nuxe do is really great for anyone who suffers from sensitive or dry skin, and offers a range of different types of cleanser so there is something for everyone.
I also have been enjoying the Super Facialist Calming Creamy Cleanser, which is just a little thicker in texture but a great budget-friendly option.
