Unlike the usual lipsticks you may be used to, Korean lip tints offer a lightweight, buildable experience. Their water-based formulas stain the lips with just a sheer wash of color, giving you lots of control over how pigmented or natural you want the shade to appear.

I’ve tried a lot of different lip tints in my time and think I’ve got a pretty good idea of what makes one better than the rest. So, here are my top picks I think everyone should buy in 2024.

Romand – Blur Fudge Tint

I’ve tried out quite a few of the Peripera products in the past, but the Peritage Collection of their Ink Mood Glowy Tint is really among my favourites.

What I like about this product is that it really does it all; the hydration of a lip balm, the shine of a lip gloss, and the long-lasting color of a lip stain. Although there are only three shades, each of them is super pretty.

Colorgram – Juicy Drop Tint

As its name would suggest, the Colorgram Juicy Drop Tint delivers a burst of juicy, long-lasting color with a lightweight, watery texture.

This water tint is packed full of hydrating ingredients that leave the lips feeling comfortable and refreshed even after the initial glossy finish has faded away. There are 8 delicious shades in the collection, ranging from vivid color to everyday hues that will look similar to your natural lip color.

They are super easy to apply, don’t emphasise dry lips or dry patches and you don’t need to worry about stickiness. 

How to apply your water lip tint

Of course, you can simply swipe the watery lip stain over your lips, but if you want to go all out with the Korean girl look, have a go at the popular ombre lip trend. Here’s how to achieve it:

• Exfoliation is Key: Begin by exfoliating the lips to ensure a smooth canvas for application.
  
• Start Small: Apply a small dot of lip tint to the center of the bottom lip. You don’t need to use lots straight away, a small amount to start with is the best way to go with this look.
  
• Blending is Essential: Using a fingertip or a lip brush, gently dab and blend the color outwards towards the corners of the lips. Repeat on the upper lip, focusing on the center and diffusing outwards.
  
• Building Intensity (Optional): For a more intense look, apply additional dots of color and blend again.
