There are so many different shades of blush out there that it can be hard to work out which is best for you. Here are my favourite blushes for fair skin.
Blushers are easily my favourite makeup product, they are also the type of product that I hoard like crazy.
Rules don’t apply when it comes to buying blush, there are so many different shades that I somehow find a way to justify every purchase by saying ‘but I don’t have this particular shade, and I NEED it’.
Up until recently, I played a pretty easy game when it came to blush, I pretty much only used powder blushes with a few rare exceptions in the form of an old MAC Cream Blush and the odd Lip and Cheek stain, so when I started properly introducing cream blushers into my collection it was a real game-changer.
They go a lot better with the more natural makeup look that I have been sporting recently.
Even though I have moved over to using more cream blushes, I still love a lot of my powder blushes and use them regularly.
Now that my blush collection has expanded quite a bit, I selected (which was like picking my favourite children) my top 7 blushes that I love and use the most.
My favourite cream blushes for fair skin
Glossier Beam
In my opinion, Glossier Cloudpaints are on the god-tier of cream blushes.
They are thin in consistency which means that they blend out like an absolute dream and can easily be sheered out if you want a subtle hint of colour, or built up with more layers if you want a more intense shot of colour.
The formula is what really sets this product apart from the other cream blushes out there – I notice that even when I use blushes that have a similar consistency, they still don’t quite hit the same.
The pillowy formula of the product smooths your skin as you apply, it doesn’t cling to any dry patches or settle into your pores either.
My all-time favourite shade of Cloudpaint is Dusk which is nude-brown, the perfect shade that sits somewhere in between blush and bronzer so you can apply it all over your cheeks and up to your forehead to warm up your complexion.
I also recently picked up the shade Beam, a pretty peach shade that is going to be so perfect coming into spring and summer as it brightens up the face and gives a nice pop of colour.
Nudestix Whisper
Whisper is a beautiful cool-toned pink. It’s a bit thicker and dryer than other cream blushes that I have in my collection but it still doesn’t take too much effort to blend out.
I find that I don’t like to apply this directly to the skin, because it can disrupt my base makeup, so I will usually draw a bit onto my finger and then pat it onto my cheeks.
It doesn’t budge throughout the day and despite the thicker consistency, it doesn’t feel heavy at all.
Milk Werk
Milk Makeup has been one of my favourite beauty brand discoveries of the past couple of years, they combine products that perform with pretty packaging that you want to display, all for a price that is not ridiculous – they are everything a modern beauty brand should be, in my opinion.
Their cream products are really what makes them stand out, I’ve tried their blushes, bronzers and highlighters and have enjoyed them all – in particular the blushes.
The Lip + Cheek’s is a multi-use product, and the majority of the colours come in a travel-size version.
Werk is a warm rose colour, it’s a super flattering shade that really brightens up my complexion without looking too intensely colourful.
The formula is super creamy, it can be sheered out easily with your fingers or a blush, and can be layered up if you want more pigment.
My favourite powder blushes for fair skin
NARS Deep Throat
As far as powder blushes go, I want something that applies evenly, doesn’t look patchy and isn’t too heavy and powdery on my skin – all things that the NARS blushes have down.
I have tried quite a few of their blushes, but my favourite has to be Deep Throat.
Deep throat is a pretty pink shade, very similar to Orgasm, but a bit more subtle and without the gold glitter.
This is the perfect everyday blush, a shade that you know is going to go with any makeup look and will always look good.
Tarte First Class
I have a funny relationship with Tarte, some of their products I love (mainly their blushes) and some I just never got along with (after a long time I have finally come to the conclusion that I really don’t like ShapeTape), they have also done a few questionable things as a brand which will probably stop me from buying from them again in the future.
Nevertheless, credit where credit is due, their blushes are great.
Exposed is one of my holy-grail, all-time favourite blushes. It’s a muted cool-toned pink and I have used it for as long as I can remember.
But the shade that has made it into this roundup is First Class. It’s a pretty peachy pink shade that is perfect for spring (once I can properly go outside and wear makeup again).
The main reason I love the Tarte blushes in particular is because they last so well, a lot of powder blushes can start to fade around the midday point, but these blushes will remain all day long with the same amount of vibrancy as they had when you first applied it.
Hourglass Mood Exposure
The award for the prettiest blushes has to go to Ambient Lighting Blushes, I mean there’s just no argument about it.
I can’t lie that I did predominately buy this blush because of how pretty it looked.
The Ambient Lighting Blushes are fused with Hourglass’s famous Ambient Lighting Powders. This means that not only do they offer a beautiful colour, but it will brighten the complexion and give a whole lotta glow.
The shade I have is Mood Exposure, a subtle plum shade. It’s quite different from the normal blushes I go for, which are normally pink or peach tones, but I love it for this exact reason.
The mixture of the blush with the powder gives this amazing soft-focus glow to the face when applied, it blurs out the skin and makes you look super healthy and ‘lit from within’.
The formula is really fine, so it doesn’t sit in fine lines or pores, and it doesn’t go patchy when put over other products.
Beauty Pie Peachy Dreams
The final product is easily the most affordable blush of all those that I have mentioned, coming in at only £5.46.
Despite the low price tag, the Beauty Pie Smart Powder Blushes perform just as well as more higher-end products.
They are soft, light, and easily blend into the skin without looking powdery or patchy.
My favourite shade is Peachy Dreams, which is a true light peach shade, without the normal pink undertone that most similar shades have.
I never thought that real peach shades would suit me before this, but I was wrong – it warms my complexion up perfectly, blending in with my bronzer to create this amazing ‘holiday glow’ that I can’t get enough of.
