I wish I used face masks more than I do, I’m a very lazy person when it comes to skincare so anything outside of my normal routine (like a mask) is usually avoided.

A face mask has to be pretty impressive for me to add that extra step to my routine.

But I may have found one of my most favourite masks yet that I’ve been dying to tell you all about.

Here’s my REN Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask review…

It’s Winter at the time of writing this post and no matter how hard I try my skin continues to get dry and irritated, on top of breakouts caused by always wearing a mask.

It’s fair to say that my skin is going through a tough time.

So when I was recommended this mask from REN, touted as being a 10-minute quick-fix for redness and irritation – I was instantly intrigued.

The mask is part of a larger Evercalm range which focusses around ingredients Albatrellus Extract (White Mushrooms) to help soothe sore and itchy skin – a range that’s perfect for this time of year.

The range combines powerful ingredients that really work but are also kind to sensitive skin (REN is also great because they’re cruelty-free and are making lots of effort to be more environmentally-friendly)

Keep reading below to find out some of the key facts about this mask, as well as my final thoughts at the bottom.

What the REN Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask claims to do

Specially developed to combat over-sensitivity, the rescue mask will calm, soothe and moisturize, helping to instantly alleviate the key signs of sensitive skin. Formulated with REN’s exclusive active complex, it will strengthen the protective moisture barrier to aid recovery and increase skin’s ability to cope with stress, improving skin well-being.

How to use the REN Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask

I use around 1 pump and spread it evenly across my face, leave for around 15-20 minutes and then remove wit

Who is it targeted towards

This mask is predominantly aimed towards people with irritated and sensitive skin. But I think that anyone, no matter your skin type, would love this mask.

Where it’s soothing and calming it can help skin that’s breaking out, or if you’re skin is struggling to deal with the harsh Winter weather – whatever your issue, this mask will help your skin.

Ingredients

Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylyl Caprylate/Caprate, Olus Oil, Lactobacillus Ferment, Butyrospermum, Parkii (Shea) Butter, Helianthus Annus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Simmondsia Chinesis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Cetearyl Glucoside, Propanediol, Algae Extract, Cetyl Alcohol, Lactobacillus, Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide, Parfum* (Fragrance), Tocopheryl Acetate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride Panthenol, Carbomer, Vaccinium Vitas-Idaea (Lingonberry) Seed Oil, Xanthan Gum, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Camelina Sativa Seed Oil, Cocus Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Magnesium Carboxymethyl Beta-Glucan, Malachite Extract, Albatrellus Ovinus Extract, Laminaria Ochroleuca Extract, Glucose, Phenoxyethanol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leat Extract, Citronellol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool)

Price and availability

This costs £34 for 50ml of product.

Which is a fairly reasonable price in comparison to other brands that fall in a similar field – not drugstore but not super luxury.

You also don’t need a lot of product, a thin layer is all it takes for the mask to do it’s work so even though it’s a fairly small amount of product, you can definitely stretch it out.

You can get this product at a range of online stores such as Look Fantastic, Cult Beauty and as well as Walmart and REVOLVE.

Packaging

The packaging is a pump container, which I love.

I think that ALL masks should come in a pump like this and it’s not messy in the slightest and you’re not stuck trying to put a lid back on with your hands covered in product.

Texture

This mask is a thick creamy texture, it feels very smooth and nourishing on the skin.

It doesn’t take too much work to remove either, because it’s a light in colour it also doesn’t make much of a mess – like a lot of clay masks do.

Effectiveness

A lot of masks don’t give you instant results, they take some time or a few uses for you to be able to notice anything different in your skin.

With this mask I was amazed at how good my skin felt instantly after taking it off.

My skin felt super smooth and hydrated straight away.

And they were just the instant results!

The morning after I used this mask I noticed how my skin looked less red and irritated (I’ve been breaking out a lot recently so I’ve been used to my skin looking very red and angry in the mornings before using this).

A few weeks ago I also had a reaction to a new acid that I introduced into my routine and none of my usual hydrating products were helping to calm my skin down – apart from this.

All my skin needed was a generous coat of this mask for 15 minutes and my skin was instantly calmed right down.

Final thoughts

This mask is great, which is not something I would normally say lightly.

There’s been so many times when this has been the only thing that works at calming down my irritated skin so I would highly recommend it to everyone.

If you’ve been struggling with irritated and sensitive skin, whether it’s down to the weather or from constantly wearing a mask, this is the product that you need.

Wow I have been so curious about this mask for awhile so I really appreciate your review! I love masks that are gentle and hydrating for sensitive skin. I don’t have sensitive skin specifically, but I feel like some masks are really harsh and irritating sometimes. That’s also amazing that the results of this mask were instant!
