The best skincare products to use when you’re skin is feeling super dry.
When you’re looking for skincare products for dry skin, you want something slightly thicker and extremely hydrating.
Especially when your skin is starting to feel the consequences of the winter weather.
The past few weeks have been pretty cold and miserable here in the UK. This means that my skin has been D-R-Y.
All the cold air makes my dry skin itchy and uncomfortable, so I really have to step up my skincare routine. I like to bring out all of my high-performing products to help soothe my skin and bring it back to life.
Hydrating face masks
When my skin is as dry as it is at the moment, I will use an intensive moisturising mask every day – my favourites are the Caudalie Mask and the No7 Intensive Hydration Mask.
Any kind of treatment that is thick and sinks into the skin is perfect and will make sure your skin is nice and hydrated for the rest of your products.
Hyaluronic Acid
The key ingredient for dry skin is Hyaluronic Acid, this is a game-changer.
I always associated acids with things for people with blemishes, but since discovering this ingredient my eyes have been opened.
I really like the Hyaluronic Acid from The Inkey List, it’s super affordable and delivers a hydrating punch that’s exactly what my skin needs.
Facial Oils
My skin loves oils – it literally drinks it up so I make sure to apply this to my skin overnight so that I wake up with soft and moisturised skin.
I’ve always got on well with rosehip oil, shout-out to my holy grail Pai Rosehip Oil (which I’m currently out of and will be repurchasing imminently).
Not only does the oil help to hydrate my skin, but as rosehip is an anti-inflammatory it helps to ease any redness and breakouts that I seem to always have at the moment – we love a multi-tasking product.
Intensive moisturisers
After that, we have the moisturisers – for all over my face I love the Clinique Moisture Surge Intense which is great for sleeping in as it’s not thick at all and sinks into the skin quickly.
Although this does have a pretty nasty smell, it goes away almost as soon as you’ve applied it, but it’s a glue-like smell so might be one to try in store if you’ve got a particularly sensitive nose.
For any patches that are extremely dry, nothing works better than the Weleda Skin Food – this stuff is legit.
It’s super thick and is the only thing I know to really get rid of any stubborn dry patches – for me it’s always been my eyelids.
I also use this all over my body where I need it, for example, my elbows can get really dry and irritated and this is the product I swear by to calm it down.
Lip balms
Finally, we can’t forget about the lips, and the best intensive lip balm I have found so far is the Nuxe Reve de Miel, it’s thick and heavy-duty but isn’t uncomfortable to sleep in, or to wear during the day under your usual lip products – plus it smells amazing.
