A review of Beauty Pie’s Japanfusion Cleanser, the luxury-feeling cleanser that costs under £10.
A good cleanser is like a good pair of jeans.
It may take a while to find the right one, but once you find it you’ll stay loyal and continue to buy it over and over again—just like me buying every single style of the Levi’s Ribcage Jeans that I can find.
It’s an exaggerated point, but you get the picture, cleanser is important.
Cleansers are arguably one of the most important steps in any skincare routine.
Despite it being so integral, rarely will you find anyone shouting from the rooftops about a holy grail cleanser, you are more likely to hear people talking about their hero serums, masks etc.
Cleansing is a step that you do because you have to, not because you love the products.
I was probably the same up until recently; diligently performing my double-cleanse morning and evening, but it was never anything to write home about.
Fast forward to now and it is a completely different story, cleansing is a step that I actually look forward, all thanks to this product; the Beauty Pie Japanfusion Pure Transforming Cleanser.
What the Beauty Pie Japanfusion Cleanser claims to do
“[A] beautiful antioxidant-infused high-tech gel-to-oil-to-milk cleansing balm demonstrates that mastery. Massage it on every night to tracelessly remove makeup, oils, and pollution. For radiant, perfectly balanced skin, it’s a supreme clean.”

How to use
I take about a walnut-sized amount of this between my fingers and massage it over my skin where it turns into more of an oil, a little bit goes a long way and you can really feel it melting off your makeup; even stubborn eyeliner and mascara.
I try to be quite thorough with my cleanser so will massage it in for a minute or two, making sure that I’ve covered my whole face and really gone up into my hairline and down my neck so that all traces of makeup have gone.
Then I’ll go in with a damp muslin cloth and remove everything.
You can use just your hands and water to remove it, when it comes into contact with water it turns into a milk so it comes off very easily, I have personally always preferred a muslin cloth though.
Who’s it targeted towards?
This cleanser is the perfect second-step cleanser for anyone, no matter your skin type. It’s also strong enough to be a first-step cleanse unless you wear heavy mascara/eyeliner.
It’s not drying or stripping so you can use it if you have dry skin, it’s also not creamy and thick so you’d still love it if you have oily skin.
I have quite sensitive skin and have never had an issues with it being irritating or too harsh.
It really is just a cleanser that will work for anyone! Believe me, I’ve got so many of my friends and family onto this cleanser and they all love it.

Price and availability
Beauty Pie is only available to purchase directly from the Beauty Pie website, although they have previously done pop-up stores where you can buy their products in person.
The pricing of Beauty Pie’s products can fluctuate but this cleanser has always cost under £10. At the moment (December 2020) it retails for £7.46 if you’re a member.
If you didn’t know, Beauty Pie is a membership programme so you pay a monthly subscription fee (that starts at £5 a month, which you can cancel at any time) which allows you a balance to buy products with.
If you have a list of Beauty Pie products that you want to try then it’s definitely worth the money, however if you’re planning to buy just the cleanser it may start to get expensive when you include the membership and shipping costs.
Effectiveness
This cleanser basically removes all of my makeup in one cleanse on my more minimal makeup days. If it’s a day when I’m wearing waterproof mascara or heavy eye makeup, I’d use this as my second cleanse.
I find that after using this my skin feels clean, smooth and hydrated.
When mixed with water the cleanser starts to turn into a milky consistency which makes it really easy to remove without leaving any residue behind.
If I was being lazy or just tired I could easily get away with just doing a single cleanse, knowing that my face is makeup-free, but normally I will go in with another cleanser afterwards.
Final review
I would definitely say that this is the best cleanser that I’ve ever used, I think that I am currently on my fifth tube of the product!
I have tried other cleansers in the meantime, but just nothing comes close to it at all.
It’s also really helped me with my breakouts, mainly because it’s so thorough at removing all of my makeup. It creates a clean canvas for me to go in with my other lotions and potions, making them more effective as a result.
