The Glass Skin Trend: Affordable Skincare Products

If you’ve been on social media recently, you’ve probably come across the glass-skin trend.

It’s all about making your skin look super dewy and hydrated so that your skin looks like a shiny bit of glass.

I love this trend because I always love to look as glowy as possible after my skincare routine so I felt like I was practicing the glass skin trend before it was even a ‘thing’.

My top skincare tip to achieve the glass skin look is not to just layer up a bunch of products, but to focus on products that deeply nourish and hydrate your skin so that you look naturally glowy and don’t cross the line into looking greasy – that’s not what this trend is about!

I’ve picked some of my favorite products that I use in my morning and evening skincare routines to make my skin look as glowy and glass-like as possible.

LANEIGE – Cream Skin Refiner

I had always seen this product spoken about a lot on social media, but it’s a little more expensive than my usual skincare products so I thought I could live without it… The Laneige Cream Skin Refiner, which is now called the Cream Skin Toner and Moisturizer, is a must-have for glass skin.

I picked up a trial size from StyleVana and was hooked on it straight away and it quickly became a personal fave to achieve luminous skin. This is a toner that is best used straight after cleansing that you can apply with a cotton pad or, like I do, by pouring a little bit into your hand and patting it into the skin as part of my nighttime routine to get me closer to my glowy skin goals.

Your skin will instantly feel intensely hydrated, silky smooth, and super plump – it’s a miracle worker.

This isn’t thick or greasy in the slightest, it feels like nothing on your skin but makes SUCH a difference. This is a holy grail skincare item that I think everyone needs!

I’m From – Rice Toner

The I’m From Rice Toner is another milky toner that helps to hydrate and nourish dry skin. Toners like this are a great starting point for glass skin as they make your skin so smooth and help to strengthen the skin barrier.

You don’t need to use this toner and the Laneige toner at the same time, you can just pick whichever one you prefer the sound of!

Rice is a fantastic skincare ingredient that helps to brighten the skin and offers lots of hydration, you’ll often see it used in a lot of Korean skincare products because it’s essential for healthy skin. Using this toner as the first step of your routine will guarantee you flawless skin and create the perfect base for the rest of your skincare products to go on top of.

COSRX – Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

The next product that is great in helping you achieve the glass skin trend is this essence from COSRX. The name of the product is correct, but don’t let that put you off this particular product – snail mucin is a seriously powerful ingredient that works wonders in the world of skincare.

This is a gel facial essence that can go right on top of the toners I’ve already mentioned. A couple of pumps of this on your face will make your skin glow from within – instantly! Snail mucin helps to increase skin elasticity and hydration, and plump up those pesky fine lines.

COSRX is also a Korean skincare brand that I really trust for a range of skin concerns, so you’ll see a lot of their products in my routines. From eye cream to cleansers for combination skin, my skin tone has never been better since I started to incorporate their products.

Etude House – Soon Jung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream

At this point in a routine your skin will be looking super radiant and glowy, but to add the final touches and really look like you have glass skin you’re going to want to use a really nourishing water-based product like this one from Etude House.

The Soon Jung moisturizer is an extremely moisturizing product that helps to lock all of your other products in but also adds even more hydration to your skin. It sinks in easily but makes your skin look really plump and dewy.

The first thing you’ll notice about this product is how it makes the skin feel. Your skin will instantly feel plump and hydrated, it isn’t about following the skin care trends and trying all of the new products, this is a skincare essential from an affordable skincare brand that everyone should have in their routines — which is the best way to achieve the glass skin look.

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF

The last product that I love to use to finish off this glass skin trend roundup is a good SPF – I like to use a thinner SPF on days when I want to look super radiant and this Biore UV product is perfect.

It glides onto the skin and gives a pretty glow to make your complexion look as moist as can be. Despite it being a thick cream, it doesn’t have a white cast — which is especially important for SPF and will separate the good products from the bad.

At the moment I only use SPFs that are over factor 50 so this one really is perfect. If you have yet to find a sunscreen that you like, this could be the one.

Goodal – Green Tangerine Vitamin C Dark Spot Care Serum

If you have dull skin or want to reduce the appearance of dark spots, vitamin C is an important ingredient that you’re going to want to add to your skincare routine.

We really like the Goodal Green Tangerine Vitamin C, it’s gentle on the skin and great for beginners who want to start incorporating this powerhouse ingredient into their daily routine.

Vitamin C has really been a game-changer in my skincare journey. Once I took time to understand my skin’s needs and understand that I was struggling with dullness, incorporating a serum like this made all the difference — no more bad skin! I like to follow up with a serum that contains centella asiatica extract, which helps to calm down the skin and help with hydration, plus a little bit of facial oil to lock in that hydration.

COSRX – Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser

A lot of people like to exfoliate their skin with acids like glycolic acid or lactic acid to buff away any dead skin cells and protect acne-prone skin. This is a great way to ensure clear skin, but if you want something a little more gentle, the COSRX Salicylic Acid Cleanser is a great alternative. 

This face wash for oily skin is a great addition to your double cleansing routine that will also get some light exfoliation in. Use it after your cleansing oil or cleansing balm and then rinse off with warm water and your skin will feel fresh and clean, with no tightness to be felt here.

Mediheal Watermide Toner Pad

If you love sheet masks, you’re going to love these toner pads. These are smaller pads that are soaked in hydrating serums that you place on your face in areas that are super dry. They are becoming pretty popular at the moment, and many people will say they’re the secret to glassy skin.

We love the Mediheal Watermide Toner Pads because they are super hydrating and perfect for sensitive skin but they do also have some different pads for different skin types, so it all depends on your skin needs.

Torriden – DIVE-IN Low Molecule Hyaluronic Acid Serum

If you want to get dewy skin fast, you need to seriously amp up your usage of hyaluronic acid, an ingredient that will help you achieve glass-like skin and reduce dry patches.

The Torriden DIVE-IN serum is a seriously popular Korean skin care product at the moment and, despite not being packed with active ingredients, it’s able to help everyone achieve the dewy skin and youthful looks that everyone is looking for.
