The Best Blush Shade for Fair Skin
Once I find a blush shade that suits my skin tone, I’ll likely be loyal to it for a long time. However, finding a blush that gives the perfect flush to my fair skin and warm undertones isn’t always smooth sailing.
Some blushes are too bright and clown-ish, others completely wash me out – it’s like treading a thin line to choose a blush.
If you find yourself in the same situation of trying to find a blush color for your skin, whether that’s a powder blush or a cream blush, I’ve rounded up some of the best blush shades for any makeup look. Simply swipe any of these products onto the apples of your cheeks, and you’ll have the perfect blush color for your skin tone.
The Best Blush Shade for Fair Skin Tones
Picking a blush look based on your skin tone will make a huge difference to your makeup; it will brighten up your face and give you the healthy glow we all want. The wrong shade blush, or the wrong undertone, can often dull down your complexion and make your skin look washed out.
I’m here to help you pick a blush color for light skin types based on all the different blush sticks, powders and creams that I’ve been trialling out for myself in an effort to find the best blush for my skin tone. Here are my top picks…
Rhode Beauty Pocket Blush in Toasted Teddy
On first inspection, the bronze terracotta hues of the Rhode Pocket Blush in Toasted Teddy may not seem the most obvious choice for a roundup of blushes for fair skin. But, don’t let the deep shade fool you, this may just be the best blush for fair skin (in my opinion).
Not only are these blushes especially creamy and easy to blend, but they also have just the right amount of pigment for a pop of color without looking too much. Toasted Teddy is a perfect flush shade that brings warmth to my fair skin and a natural flush.
Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in Hope
I’ve mentioned the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blushes countless times on my blog, mainly because the blush formula is great, plus there’s a wide range of shades and undertones to suit everyone from fair to medium skin tones.
One of the shades I particularly love is Hope, a nude mauve-pink blush that has slightly cool undertones, which makes it a lot more flattering than your typical pink blush. As much as I love the bubblegum pink shades on other people, it just doesn’t look good on my skin – this is just the right blush shade for me.
Tower 28 BeachPlease Lip + Cheek Dewy Cream Blush in Magic Hour
Sticking with the rosy pink theme, the Tower 28 BeachPlease Lip + Cheek Dewy Cream Blush in Magic Hour is a great option that I always come back to.
The formula of these blushes, in general, is great – so good that I have multiple shades. I think Magic Hour is one of the best blush colors for fair skin tones, as it gives the perfect flush of color to the cheeks without looking too bold. It does have a slightly cool tone to it, but I think this just makes it even more flattering on different skin tones.
Saie Dew Blush Liquid Cream Blush in Rosy
Another contender for my favorite blush is the Saie Dew Blush Liquid Cream Blush in Rosy, a very pretty soft rose shade that looks beautiful on different skin tones, but on fair skin, it gives the perfect pop of color.
The formula of these is pretty dewy, as the name would suggest, and it never really fully dries down, so it may not be the best option for people with oily skin, but I love the radiant glow it gives my skin. I have a few of the other shades, but this is the one that I always come back to, as I know it’s going to be flattering and complement whatever other products I’m wearing.
Glossier Cloud Paint Plush Blush in Storm
On first impressions, the Glossier Cloud Paint Plush Blush in Storm may not look like the most pale skin-friendly blush, but don’t let the deep shade scare you off. If you want to choose the best blush for that naturally flushed look, this is the one you want.
It’s a rosy red shade that gives a pinched and kind of sunburnt look to the skin, which is pretty much exactly what I want from a good blush shade. I also really like the formula of these blushes, a blurring powder that doesn’t look too matte. You do need to be careful not to go too heavy-handed, as it could fall into the region of clownish, so I like to take small bits on a brush and build it up gradually.
It’s also the kind of color that would look equally as beautiful on dark skin and deeper skin tones.
NYX Professional Makeup Buttermelt Blush – Feeling Butta
The NYX Buttermelt Blush is one of the few powder formulas that I really enjoy, the pigment is great, the finish is pretty, and they don’t look matte or patchy on the skin. It’s also worth noting that the bronzer version of this product is just as good and gets another glowing recommendation.
My favorite shade out of the bunch (which are mostly pops of color) is Feeling Butta, which is described as a warm terracotta shade. It’s like the powder equivalent of Toasted Teddy by Rhode with its pretty terracotta hues. In general, anything terracotta is something that I tend to lean towards and always think looks good on pale skin – this shade confirms it.
Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso
The final blush I have to share probably won’t come as a surprise, as the Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso has been a long-time favourite of mine, and is just as popular elsewhere online too. This blush and highlighter hybrid is a universally flattering blush shade that gives the perfect coral pop of color to cheeks.
I just apply it using any old blush brush, and I instantly look a little bit more alive and healthy.
